TalkStrata.com Website Helps Condo Homeowners Face Strata Living Challenges

Official Press Release: October 23, 2007

Vancouver
, BC, October 23, 2007Tenzing Solutions is pleased to announce the official launch of its website TalkStrata.com to help condominium owners in British Columbia.

It is hard to ignore that more people are living and/or planning on living in a strata property than ever before. Strata life is a common experience and reality many B.C. residents share. Almost one third of B.C.’s 4.2 million residents are condo owners. The province has about 32,000 strata corporations with roughly 1.3 million condominium units also known as strata lots.In Vancouver alone, 46.2% of residents already live in a strata property, including apartments, townhouses, retirement communities, and duplexes.

Builders are developing more multi-family homes to meet demand. With high housing prices, people are looking for more affordable housing types. For Greater Vancouver, construction began on 11,742 multi-family units between January and September of 2007, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. This is a 15% increase compared to the same period last year.Single family housing, on the other hand, only accounted for less than 21 percent of housing starts.

With so many B.C. residents living in strata properties, new challenges arise.New condo owners soon discover that strata ownership comes with a little more than they expected. There is more to condo living than having to find creative ways to save space and not having to do yard work. Having disagreeable neighbours, shared common areas, unforeseen assessment fees, strata bylaw violations, restrictions, and a strict strata council are some of the idiosyncrasies of strata life.

Until now, information on common strata issues has not been readily available through a single source and finding answers has not been easy, sometimes requiring a lot of time, money and energy.

TalkStrata.com was developed to bring needed information to help navigate strata living in B.C. in a convenient way for strata owners. Launched in late August of 2007; TalkStrata.com has already generated over 10,000 website hits in its first two months. It is evident people are searching for answers to their strata problems online.Condo homeowners and strata councils can connect and post their questions and comments in the Discussion Forums.Weekly articles addressing an array of strata topics are updated in the Resource Section by realtor, Aislynn Radley of www.vancouverinvestors.com, and strata council consultant, Lynne Taylor of www.stratapowercouncil.info.TalkStrata.com is dedicated to providing relevant information and an online community where members can discuss their issues in a welcoming environment.

Whether having a conflict with your neighbour, being fined for a noise violation, or wondering how your strata fees are being spent, TalkStrata.com is the place to start your search. Post your questions, share your experiences, learn how strata councils work and understand what all the bylaw “talk” is about - bookmark TalkStrata.com.

About TalkStrata.com
TalkStrata.com was conceived when three friends shared their frustrations related to their strata experiences over a cup of homemade mocha in early 2007.Trying to find advice from other strata councils willing to share their experience or information on how to enforce bylaws was tough. And so TalkStrata.com was born with the goal to be the most convenient way for condo homeowners to search for answers to their strata questions.
