I can't believe developers can do this to their clients. What can I do as afirst-time buyer to watch out for this? I need to make sure my realtor really goes through the contract because if i had to pay an extra $300 a month for strata, i'd be diving into my emergency funds.
Why doesn't REDMA properly protect buyers in BC? What consumers are promised and expect is rarely delivered. The disclosure statements are packed with surprises. A sterile FICOM quickly washes their hands at possession.
The buck is then passed to the HPO with a 2-5-10 warranty insurance full of "weasel words".
Who runs the HPO anyway? An appointed board comprised of BC building industry types, just like the mismanaged and failed BC New Home Warranty program was. The foxes are in charge of the hen-house again.
