You were thrilled when you bought your new condo and could hardly wait to move in. The first thing you did was hang your gorgeous, purple, velvet drapes. Unbelievably, they’d only been up a week when the strata council squawked and told you to take them down.

Naturally you were outraged and ready to do battle. Maybe you should never have bought a place in this */!* building where other people make */!* rules about what you can and can’t do in your own suite.

But just a minute - didn’t you read your strata corporation’s bylaws, you know, the parts about common property and external appearances? Better look them up and ask some questions. Maybe all you need is some neutral-colored drapery lining and a good seamstress. Maybe you should keep those bylaws handy. Purple drapes are beautiful.
