paid council members
Talkstrata » Forums » Strata Corporations » Self-Managed Stratawe currently pay our president an hourly rate for mamagement duties(approximately $200 per month) .As well a small fee of $25 (equivelent to monthly strata fee) to our treasurer and bookkeeper. I as secretary recieve $15 per meeting minutes I prepare. We are an unusual Strata--mobile homes on lots. The strata fees cover road and common area maintenance. My question is--is it legal to pay members of council and are there any other stratas out there who do this? Our strata rates would increase dramatically if we were to hire a management company and we see no benefit to doing that. We do our own bylaw ewforcemen as well which consists mainly of yard maintenance, parking issues, noise levels and pet issues
So glad i found this site and hope for some great feed back.
If your by-laws state that council members are entitled to "remuneration", then it is legal. If the by-laws are silent, then your council is currently breaching the S.P.A.(section 34)
I too am a member of a bare land strata, approximately 100 de-registared mobile homes.
How many units are in your strata?......
I would love the opportunity to compare notes, as it sounds like we are in similar situations.
